Regular Season Winners

Hi Boys,

The Blackhawks are the 2013-2014 league champions. The finished the regular season with 27 points. They narrowly beat out both the Rangers and the Bruins. But none of this really matters as the Playoffs start next week.

The Playoffs run for the next six weeks. The round robin sees each team play each other between February 14th and March 14th. The Finals will be played on March 21st. The schedule for next week is:

5:15PM – Bruins (H) vs Blackhawks
5:45PM – Red Wings (H) vs Canadiens
6:45PM – Rangers vs Maple Leafs (H)

Best of luck to all in the Playoffs ahead.

Cheers,

Season Wrap Up!

Here we are boys,

This week is the final game of the regular season. It just comes so fast! The line up for this week is

5:15PM – Canadiens vs Rangers
5:45PM – Bruins vs Red Wings
6:45PM – Maple Leafs vs Blackhawks

The Regular Season trophy is still up for grabs. The Blackhawks currently hold first place with 25 points. However the Bruins and Rangers are right behind them with 23 points each.

Good Luck,

In the Crease

Gents,

Our goalies are standing their ground and asking for us to stay out of their crease.

Below is the crease rule and I’ve sent it to the refs and asked them to call it accordingly – so stay out of the crease until the puck enters, then the goalies, especially Yves, are fair game !! Just kidding, but the message is, give the goalies the room they deserve. See you Friday !!

4.7 goal crease
Players in the offensive zone are not permitted to enter the crease area under any circumstance before the puck enters the crease area. If a Player’s skate(s) enters the crease voluntarily in any manner, the Referee has the discretion to blow down the play, and a face-off will take place at the nearest spot in the neutral zone.

Only if, in the opinion of the Referee, the defending Team has clear possession and control of the puck, with a clear path to moving out of the zone, shall the Referee allow play to continue.

Cheers,
The Commish

Happy New Year!

Hi Boys,

Just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. As you celebrate tonight, think about this Friday. We are just two days from hitting the ice for the 2014 portion of our season.

As a reminder the schedule for January 3rd is:

5:15PM – Bruins vs Red Wings
5:45PM – Rangers vs Canadiens
6:45PM – Maple Leafs vs Blackhawks

The standings are going to be changing this week. No more ties as the Bruins, Blackhawks, and Rangers all look to take the top spot. The Maple Leafs also have an opportunity to move up, provided the Red Wings and Canadiens play upset heroes!

Good luck to everyone and see you on the ice this week.

Happy New Year,
Simons Hockey

Happy Holidays

Hi Boys,

The 2013 portion of this year’s season is over! As everyone one can see by the standings it is a tight race for top spot. There are three teams tied for first! They are separated only by their, equally as close, Goals For and Goals Against.

As some may have noticed, we are off a little earlier this year. But that means we’re also back early! On January 3rd the schedule is as follows:

5:15PM – Bruins vs Red Wings
5:45PM – Rangers vs Canadiens
6:45PM – Maple Leafs vs Blackhawks

Finally Simons wants to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and Great New Year! See you all in January.

Cheers,

Trades!

Hi guys,

The captains met on Friday night as we usually do after 10 games. Each team wanted something different, some more scoring, some more strength at a specific position, some more “O”, some more “D” and some wanted a specific player from another team to strengthen their team. So we made the following trades in order to balance the teams as much as possible:

Here’s the schedule for next week. If you were traded, we need your jersey !! Please make sure you get it to the team captain before the game.

5:15: Wings vs Canadians
5:45: Rangers vs Leafs
6:45: Bruins vs Black Hawks

Blackhawks: Added John Purdy and Eric Parusel, lost Mario Rea and Victor Tan

Maple Leafs: Added Ron Cicuto, lost Tom Hoyme

Red Wings: Added Tom Hoyme, lost Geoff Jarman

Bruins: added Geoff Jarman and Victor Tan, lost Eric Taylor

Canadians: Added Mario Rea, lost John Purdy

Rangers: added Eric Taylor, lost Eric Parusel

See you on the ice on Friday !!

Week Off

Hi Boys,

I know I haven’t been making weekly posts this year. I’ll try to remedy that here with this post.

This week we have a bye due to a hockey tournament over the Remembrance Day long weekend.

I would also encourage every one to take some time to remember our current and fallen veterans this coming weekend.

For more information you can visit the Veterans Affairs’ website.

Cheers,

The Bruins Are Simons 2012-2013 Champions

Boys,

On Friday March 22nd, the Bruins solidified an incredible season by capturing the Simons Playoff Champion’s Trophy. It was a hard fought game. Which saw the Bruins come back from a 3-0 deficit, to defeat the red hot Red Wings 4-3. “Our team motto was never give up, and it paid off big time in the finals.” Team Captain Derek Gee speaking after the game.

Bruins Playoff/Season Victory

The Bruins started out of the gate this season with a bang going 6-0-1 in the first seven games of the season.

“We knew if we just stuck to our game, our style of play, we could beat anyone.” said Derek, after posting final season record of 14-3-3. The record was enough to secure the President’s Trophy.

Congratulations to the Simons Bruins and their outstanding season.
